November 1st has always been a day of celebration in our family. Not only is it All Saints’ Day, it is my sister’s birthday! This year, the first of November takes on a special meaning. As Catholics, on All Saints’ Day, we celebrate the lives of all of the saints, both known and unknown. This includes my precious daughter, Isabelle. Not only was she baptized, she certainly never had a chance to sin. I am the proud mother of a tiny saint who I know is praying for her family.
Jesus states in Matthew 19:14 “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When I read this, I almost imagine that Isabelle’s prayers must be really loud. God is certainly working to comfort our hearts. How else could we have managed to move forward the last few months?
It is perhaps providential that Isabelle’s godmother was born on All Saints’ Day. Not many godparents get to celebrate their godchild on All Saints’ Day as well as their own birthday – all in the same day! Our family has much to celebrate. We are so thankful for the gift of my sister, Isabelle’s godmother, as well as our own little saint.
St. Isabelle Clare – Pray for us!
This absolutely adorable picture was made by my best friend’s son. He wanted to remind me that Isabelle is praying for us from heaven and giving us lots of beautiful rainbows.
